World Oceans Day | 08-06-22 | Sea The Future
Our oceans face an enormous and growing threat from something we encounter every day: plastics. An estimated 15 billion kilos of plastic enter the marine environment every year — that’s roughly equivalent to dumping two garbage trucks of plastic into the oceans every minute!
👉 The ocean produces at least 50% of the planet’s oxygen.
👉 The ocean is key to our economy with an estimated 40 million people being employed by ocean-based industries by 2030.
👉 Oceans absorb about 30% of carbon dioxide produced by humans, buffering the impacts of global warming.
We at Shredding Trails appreciate the need to be part of the solution and hence use recycled plastic bottles derived from the worlds oceans to create the very fabric used in the manufacture of our jerseys. Our 360 degree environmentally sustainable model also prevents this plastic ending up in landfill!
It is only through making people aware of such solutions that we can help secure a healthier future for our planet. Ultimately, this comes down to our values, choices and purchasing behaviour. The message needs to be strong, and from as many of us as possible. Send it 🤙
